Beginning in the early 2000s, thousands of these cars were built by The Greenbrier Companies at its various facilities across the United States and Mexico. It is an excellent representation and proof of the 50ft boxcar’s continued existence in 21st century railroading. Most of these boxcars are assigned to paper service. The largest owner of these modern boxcars is the TTX Company with over 1000 ‘FBOX’ cars in service. Other cars owned by railroads and leasing companies are found across the North American continent.
